IS DOCTOR'S PRESCRIPTION NEEDED FOR NATURAL PRODUCTS?
Abstrak
he Covid-19 pandemic, which hit almost all over the world in early 2020, has changed the public's view of the use of natural ingredients as medicine. One of them is the use of eucalyptus
oil which is claimed to be able to treat Covid-19, even though eucalyptus oil has been known to be only a topical preparation that helps relieve nose and throat. The use of natural
ingredients whether derived from plants, animals, minerals, and/or their mixtures cannot be accepted as medicinal substances (natural product) and serves as a treatment if the natural
ingredients do not have an adequate evidence base, either in terms of safety or benefits. Eucalyptus oil can be claimed to treat Covid-19 after proving by pre-clinical and clinical trials.
Not either because of a doctor's prescription, these ingredients could become used as treatment. The purpose of this paper is to provide about when a doctor's prescription for
natural products is given through a logic frame approach, juxtaposed with a doctor's prescription for chemical medicine.
